Job Title: Controller/Fund Accountant

Endowment Wealth Management, Inc has an opening for a full-time position of Controller/Fund Accountant to join our rapidly growing nine-year old SEC Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) organization headquartered in Appleton, WI. The Controller reports directly to the CEO and President.

Details of responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Establish and maintain all accounting policies, procedures, and controls, to ensure timely and accurate reporting of the firm’s financial results for its four operating companies.
  • Manage detailed accounting functions on a day-to-day basis including invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, treasury management, procurement, and general ledger accounting.
  • Manage financial policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems for the firm’s nine private funds, including the management of all accounting functions, processing and recording all investor transactions, processing fund investment and distribution transactions, confirming the financial condition of the underlying funds, directing internal fund administration activities, overseeing production of quarterly fund and investor statements, preparation of annual financial statements, facilitate the preparation of Fund’s annual tax return and investor’s K-1’s, and manage each Fund’s annual GAAP audit with external auditors.
  • Process bimonthly payroll for all firm employees and annual preparation of W2s and 1099 tax documents, including the timely filing of Federal Form 940 and all State payroll documents.
  • Responsible for cash management for operating companies and SPVs, under oversight of the CIO.
  • Prepare annual company budgets by establishing schedules and consolidating financial data, recommending plans, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
  • Provide status of financial condition and special reports by collecting, analyzing, and reporting financial data and trends to complement monthly Financial Statements.
  • Comply with all Federal, State, and local tax regulations and internal compliance standards.
  • Enhance the accounting department’s use of software integrations and procedures while protecting all operations by keeping all financial information confidential.
  • Protect company assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing existing internal controls.
  • Oversee retention and renewal of Firm’s commercial, E&O, officers, health, dental and vision insurance benefits and related insurance policies.
  • Conduct certain monthly family office transactions and other duties as necessary.

Required Skills, Qualifications and Competencies:

  • CPA professional designation preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science degree with concentration in accounting required.
  • GAAP audit experience a plus
  • Payroll and federal and state regulatory filings experience a plus
  • Proficient with Excel, and Microsoft Word
  • QuickBooks Desktop experience a plus
  • Ability to multitask with attention to detail and timeliness.
  • Leadership and self-confident with analytical thinking; internal drive to solve complicated issues
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently in a rapidly growing team environment.
  • Personal credibility: high ethical and professional standards.

Candidate must have the leadership to efficiently and effectively utilize computerized accounting systems to exercise sound business judgement when making daily operational decisions, maintain the integrity of highly confidential business information, communicate effectively and verbally and in writing, deal effectively with time constraints and multiple priorities.  Must be professional in appearance and demeanor.
