A Health Savings Account (HSA) is a tax-advantaged account used in conjunction with a high-deductible health plan (HDHP) that allows you to save money to pay for qualified medical expenses.
Professionally Managed Fidelity HSA®
Triple Tax Advantages
An HSA offers triple tax benefits and is considered the most tax-advantaged account there is. Contributions are pre-tax, the account grows tax-deferred and withdrawals, if used for qualified medical expenses, are TAX-FREE!
Investable
Investing HSA money you don’t need in the short-term can be an excellent way to help you prepare for retirement health care costs.
Stays With You
Unlike the FSA, HSA money is yours to keep and stays with you year after year. If you leave your employer or change insurance your HSA stays with you.
Who's eligible?
There are two primary eligibility requirements for an HSA:
- You must be covered by a high-deductible health plan (HDHP) and and have no other health insurance coverage, such as other health plans, Medicare, military health benefits, medical FSAs.
- You cannot be claimed as a dependent on someone else’s tax return.
